So as you may have gathered from the title, I like Ideanote. As an Agile Coach, I help Agile Teams and leaders of Agile organizations improve how the business and IT work together to instill business agility and ultimately be more competitive. A significant part of this involves how to effectively "manage" innovation (my first lesson is that it CAN be managed; it's not just the realm of the 1 or 2 made geniuses in the organization.)
I've just stacked 3 codes and have been experimenting with Ideanote. This is exactly what I've been looking for and what I believe many organizations need. There is ONE thing that I think is missing and would enable so many teams to FINALLY move forward when trying to figure out which competing opportunity to pursue using their limited resources (excluding Apple, who has unlimited resources...)
And that is the ability to FORCE RANK a set of "accepted" ideas.
In particular, I would like to be able to do two things in this tool:
1) Rating Criteria - allow me to specify that this criteria item should be a numeric rating (instead of the little 4 icon rating.)
2) Custom calculation - Allow me the ability to enter a formula using the rating criteria I desire.
There is a well known work ranking process (WSJF - Weighted Shortest Job First) that allows you to evaluate a set of ideas across a number of criteria, and then come up with a "score" for each item. While it doesn't completely eliminate it, this cuts down significantly on the "All 5 of these opportunities are ranked 'high'" conflict that teams find themselves facing. Given the existing functionality you already have in place, you will open Ideanote to a whole market if you add this one little tweak. Would love to speak to someone about this if you'd like more details/a better explanation.
