By reducing server-side resource usage, hosting a static site can save hosting costs compared to a typical WordPress installation.
I wanted to convert some WordPress sites to static versions to reduce resource use on shared hosting, and this plugin helped me achieve that.
It's well-developed, the tutorials and explanations are clear, and you can count they'll keep updating it.
The support is good too and the deal was better than what they normally charge for lifetime.
I'm using it with a couple of sites and so far so good. I haven't used the search but I am using forms. Specifically, I'm using the WSForms plugin and it's working flawlessly. Most WordPress sites should probably be using this plugin.
I've experimented with this tool on my Elementor Pro website and found it generally quite effective. While the documentation could be more comprehensive, my developer background helped me troubleshoot form functionality.
It would be ideal if the GitHub export were faster and pushed incremental page changes rather than the entire website. Additionally, eliminating those pesky console errors would enhance the generated static HTML site.
Overall, I find the product promising with clear potential for improvement.
We just finished setting everything up and connecting to Bunny CDN. This is for a site which I was struggling. It has a pretty extensive "glossary" and it was taking 15-20 seconds just for the main glossary page to load. Then from there, it has a "tooltip" plugin which shows video previews of the glossary terms when the cursor hovers over the word. That "tooltip" used to take at least 5-10 seconds to load each word.
Now, everything loads in fractions of a second. So far very impressed!
i bought it for 2 reasons:
1. static sites are lightning fast -- of course, it doesn't have PHP, so no processing is needed. all the necessary components needed to display your website is ready to use. it's like... static site = ready made cake (you buy at the store), while accessing your wordpress site = baking the cake starting from powder in your home.
2. security -- because all of your wordpress backend is hidden somewhere else. gone are the days where you worry about cyber attack. bye-bye hackers trying to take over my site.
honestly, i had problems running it from localwp. But no problem at all if my wordpress site is hosted in a hosting company. So, that's all good. This is a much needed plugin for whoever own a wordpress site.
I've spoken to Patrick long before Simply Static was on AppSumo and while I liked the plugin, it was a little too expensive for me.
And for months, I was contemplating if I should buy the lifetime deal. Then it appeared on AppSumo at a discounted rate. I promptly bought the deal :) Thanks Patrick and AppSumo!
Simply Static is a plugin that is great for brochure sites and blogs. If we can get it to work seamlessly with say RunCloud, ServerAvatar and xCloud, it can be a winning solution for companies doing WordPress maintenance (like mine)
I'm looking forward to how far this plugin can go
I discovered this plugin purely by chance.
At some point I read something about static pages, but couldn't do much with it.
After reading a little about the topic and Patrick helps to answered my "noob" questions,
I can take out a project that I've had in the drawer for a few years and start working on it.
The plugin has 2 features that help me save on 2 other WP plugins.
I'm totally happy: 1. about the deal and 2. about the great support from Patrick.
I've stacked the Tier 3.
Although I probably won't need it (but who knows), the support from the plugin developer
deserves to be rewarded.
My recommendation: buy it now before you regret it.

Github api rate limits need to be overcome
Easily one of the most needed tools for websites that value high availability. I had some issues getting set up but Patrick was super helpful helping me set it up. There is huge value to having this plugin because it breaks reliance on wordpress which tends to break a lot. Definitely a must have tool.
Have been using the tool from time to time for a long time, mostly in the free version to export a simple website, or in the one-site paid version to create a copy in times of heavy website use. Also have used the ability to connect forms, which works well with the simple ContactForm7. When the tool became available on appsumo, the decision to go full stack was immediate. The tool solves or postpones a problem that is becoming increasingly common: website customers have old WordPress sites based on old themes that are no longer updated. At the same time, they do not want to or cannot afford a relaunch. Maintaining outdated PHP versions on the servers is a security risk - now it is possible to take the corresponding pages out of the public and continue to offer a public copy in the usual form with simply static, which no longer requires PHP usage. This can give micro-businesses time to tackle the long overdue relaunch now, before the accessibility requirements for business websites have to be implemented in 2025 anyway.
Thank you, Patrick for making this great plugin. I tested plugin by publish a sample site to Amazon AWS and it's working very well.
This is a must have plugin for everyone who love and using WordPress.
Tier 3 for sure.
Cheers,
Tom
Very good product. You do need some technical understanding OR LOTS of patience, but once you get the gist of it - then it works amazingly well!
