I have tried more than a dozen RPA tools from API integrations like Make, ActivePieces, Boost, and n8n to the browser/desktop automations like UIPath, ZeroWork, Power Automate, RTILA, and Taskmagic. I have refunded other AppSumo automation deals and let some mothball, but the one I go back to again and again is Robomotion. If you want to automate browser actions and desktop programs, it is simply head and shoulders above the others.
Robomotion has let me build so many cool automations for myself and my colleagues. We have RM handling file conversions and transfers, uploads and downloads to/from password-protected sites, reading and modifying Excel and Word files (even triggering Excel macros), sending API calls to all kinds of services (including LLMs/AI), and much more--things no other platform could do (or if they could they required a much steeper learning curve).
I was on RM T2 for a year and then upgraded to T4 because I was using it so much and needed to implement queues. Best investment of the decade. I tell anyone who asks me about desktop automation to buy this and ignore the rest. And I have learned a ton from the folks on their Discord, going from being decent at RPA to blowing people's minds. I recommend at least T2 for triggers.
Now, nothing is perfect, so a few caveats about RM just so you can buy it fully informed (but you should definitely buy it!):
1. RM cloud run hours are expensive. I love RM and want to support them, but if you're going to use a lot of cloud run hours, it's cheaper to spin up your own VPS and host a robot there to run your cloud hours. Ubuntu is the preferred OS for that. Or do what I did and repurpose an old PC as a 24/7 server in your home/office and let it run RM in addition to whatever else you need. I did that and then bought just a few cloud run hours "a la carte" as a backup in case my home server is offline.
2. RM runs best on Windows in my opinion. People will differ on this, as the Ubuntu install is good and runs really nicely, but you get better automation of desktop actions and Excel with RM running on Windows than any other OS. The reason for that is no fault of RM's -- it's just that Microsoft has baked a bunch of desktop automation tools right into their OS and others have not. That just makes a lot more possible in Windows than on other platforms, regardless of which RPA tool you use.
3. There is a learning curve. Spend some time with the Robomotion Academy videos and reading the documentation, then play around with it and learn by doing. If you run into trouble, ask on the Discord. Support there is awesome but there is a very reasonable expectation that you have spent a little effort to learn the platform and tried to build it yourself before asking for help. If you are doing browser automation, learn Xpath selectors. I have no idea why people use CSS selectors anymore, as Xpath is quite easy once you get the hang of it and is incredibly powerful with boolean operators, truncators, etc. Tons of sites/videos on this and you can learn it in under an hour. Xpath will up your browser automation game 1,000%.
4. JavaScript helps but isn't essential -- and Sonnet 3.5 or 3.7 (or some other LLMs) can write 99% of the JavaScript you might use. Once you start integrating some basic JS (even if it's 100% written by AI), you will find you can do so much more with RM.
5. Other tools are for other needs. RM isn't a replacement for Make/Boost, n8n, Activepieces, etc.. Those are just API integrations with some basic automation functions, not RPA platforms. They aren't designed to handle local files (or really handle any files well) and they can't interact very effectively with Excel (though some do ok with Google Sheets). They also are not going to do any kind of desktop automation and probably not any browser automation either. BUT, they are really good and connecting together APIs with some logic and maybe custom JS, then running in the cloud 24/7. I use ActivePieces a lot for API to API interactions that are triggered by webhook, form, or date/time. It's just a different tool for a different purpose.
Zerowork is also good if you only need browser automation. I really like ZW and their development has been great, but it's designed to do one thing well: browser automation. It scrapes really nicely and plays well with most APIs, but it lags far behind RM in file handling and can't do desktop automation. But, ZW is still a tool I love and use when I am strictly working in the browser and APIs.
Past that, it's hard for me to recommend any of the other options. UIPath and Power Automate are too hard to learn for most. RTILA made no sense to me, I could not get it to do what I need. Taskmagic I poured hours into learning and found completely unusable and non-functional (and the lead dev terribly rude and condescending).
In the end, Robomotion wins. There's simply nothing else I can recommend as highly in this space.
Faik is really great guy who takes care of issues really quick and always available to answer your questions. RM is a solid tool to compared to other tools in market.
I started using Robomotion in December of 2021 when it first came out on AppSumo, I was looking for a cost-effective alternative to UiPath.
And it was a great product then as it is outstanding now.
Robomotion provides essential RPA features in a very approachable and easy-to-use package. Its visual workflow builder is easy to understand, deploy, and develop in.
I've seen the product improve and expand since then. I think it's one of the best opportunities available on AppSumo. If you compare this to UiPath, there's no brainer for buying this app. You need to run, not walk, to go get this before it expires.
I've upgraded to the highest tiers twice and now I've upgraded again to the tier 6. This was an easy call for me in automating work for my clients.
I’ve been using Robomotion RPA to run automations on my computer, and honestly, it’s been a game changer for me. Processes that were manual and would take days just literally takes a second!
There is a learning curve but setting things up is pretty easy - however it is helpful if you are slightly technical or willing to learn. Personally, I don't have a programming background but a little AI and javascript and some strong sense of programming logic will do the trick. I rely mostly on their 'function' node, which takes things up several notches - lets you accomplish virtually anything you can think of. Everything just works—I haven’t had issues with things breaking or stopping randomly.
What I really like is how well it connects with AI stuff - I've got it connected to Straico. That part was simple to get going, and now a lot of repetitive tasks just happen in the background without me having to think about them!
The support is great - they are active on discord and have helped resolve any issues straightaway.
Overall, I’m extremely happy with Robomotion RPA. If you want something that just works and saves you time, I’d definitely recommend giving it a shot - do not pass this up!!
When I first bought it, I found it quite complicated. However, I eventually learned how to do basics in Java, especially for the scary function node, and it turned out to be amazing. I gained insights into HTTP, input and output, and requests. Now I have my api.mydomain.com/my_own_endpoints, enabling me to connect to any API. great multi-level error handling, and the support has been Excelente! Faik answers all my questions. at my work, I am competing for a trip to The City on Seven Hills, and with Robomotion by my side, I’m sure I will win it. I hope to visit soon!
wayyyyy better than the rest. takes a fat dump on UiPath, unlike the other softwares who Claim to .
I am a programmer and I find it difficult to work with this plus the software is heavy, it heats up my laptop.
Learning curve is hard but possibility are incredible.
I tried to set up my first automation, I had just a couple of things I needed assistance for. But other than that, the automation is now running every 2 hours and doing exactly what I set out to do. So now I am thinking of all the things that I am going to make next. This is giving me some peace of mind knowing important things that I need to do every day, are getting done! I am very happy with Robomotion RPA!
I've already bought a lot of really good tools from Appsumo, especially because I try not to simply collect tools, but only buy what I'll actually use productively afterwards. Among all my purchases, Robomotion is an absolute exception.
I have been using Robomotion since 2022 and have had enough time to form my opinion about the tool.
Honest statement... I would rather give up all my other tools than give up my Robomotion accounts.
Robomotion is an absolute DYNAMITE!!!
The possibilities, efficiency and scalability that the tool opens up are completely unrivaled.
I use Make, Activepieces, ZeroWork, Power Automate and Robomotion. But nothing really comes close to this tool.
In 2022, I still had an army of freelancers who were tasked with implementing my own projects. I'm now on my own again, saving myself the money for freelancers and implementing many times more of what I used to do by automating my processes. At the same time, however, I am much less tied to the day-to-day project tasks. This would be unthinkable without Robomotion. Robomotion has massively changed my way of working and my success in what I do for the better.
Robomotion gets better the more intensively you use it and the more advanced the use cases become.
In my opinion, this is where the tool can make the most of its many advantages.
In addition, I personally really enjoy working in the drag and drop canvas and it is a deeply satisfying feeling to see the bot working after completing a flow - much faster and better than a human ever could.
Sure, RM has a bit of a learning curve and I personally took the time in the beginning to really get to grips with the tool before automating my processes with it, but it was more than worth it. When I started out, I didn't have much to do with RPA tools. Robomotion made it as easy as possible for me to get started. Especially in comparison with other RPA tools, it becomes clear how low RM has set the entry barrier here.
I also think the approach of a low-code tool instead of a no-code tool is perfect. It is this fact that makes the automation of really complex use cases possible at all. And without having to be a developer! In retrospect, this was probably also the key to me being able to transfer my extensive and complex use cases to a tool in the first place. A pure coding solution would have lacked the knowledge and a no-code solution would have lacked the necessary options.
Support is mainly provided via Discord. I have always received personal and problem-oriented support here over the past few years. Even late at night or at the weekend. In any case, it should also be emphasized that Faik personally takes care of the support and that you have an absolute expert as a contact person here. I have never experienced that he was unable to answer a question - and I read every single message on the Discord server. The response times are also abnormally good.
In addition, the RM team is very user-oriented. I have yet to experience another provider that is so responsive to user feedback and requests and incorporates them so actively into the tool. This is quite a unique selling point.
Since I started with RM, the tool has been continuously developed and improved.
Much of this is not even listed in the deal description. There is a web recorder that enables the recording of web actions and outputs a functioning flow. There are subflow libraries that make it possible to create reusable workflows that can be used across flows and managed and customized centrally. The entire UI has been updated and now looks much more modern. Many packages (integrations) have been added. And much more.
The Appsumo deal is really VERY generous in terms of its limits. If you take a look at the pricing page, you will quickly realize that even the largest plan (Growth) includes just 2 Production Robots - in Tier 4 you get 10!
One robot is already so efficient that you can't really bring it to its knees.
And for those who haven't noticed - there is NO limit to the number of steps you can perform, as is the case with Make, Activepieces or most other tools. You have UNLIMITED steps and finishes at your disposal. Unlike most other deals, there is no unnecessary restriction or limitation of your processes.
If you don't go for it, you will definitely regret it!!!
A big compliment to the entire Robomotion team in any case. The tool is an absolute beast and the team is absolutely outstanding. Robomotion isn't a 5 taco tool - it's a 10!!!
Unfortunately for my wallet this is a great tool which I needed to stack 3 (tier 4) licenses 😩…
Fortunately though for my (future) wallet I’ll be able to generate tons of cash flow with this tool.
Zero support/knowledge-base. Zero in-app support. They force you onto discord. This really isn't for the average entrepreneur. Save yourself time, money, frustration. Just say NO!!!
