Turn your speech into well-written text
I’ve tested a dozen note-taking apps and AI transcription platforms — from high-end solutions to hyped annual subscriptions — and nothing comes close to Letterly’s natural workflow. As someone who regularly records meetings, lectures, and interviews, I need a tool that just works, lets me speak freely, and instantly turns my voice into sharp, structured notes.
Letterly nails this. The speech recognition is superb, and my messy, real-world recordings become clean, actionable content in minutes — no clunky editing, no post-processing headaches. Unlike other apps, I can record right from my phone, wherever I am, and Letterly makes the text instantly usable for emails, reports, or sharing with colleagues.
Don’t fall for the Plaud pitch — you don’t need expensive hardware or an annual subscription to get great results. Letterly gives you a lifetime deal and works with the voice recorder you already carry in your pocket. It’s cost-effective, reliable, and the most frictionless meeting workflow I’ve found.
If you value time, simplicity, and real results, get Letterly. It’s earned five tacos and a permanent place in my daily process!
Verdict: Letterly is the easiest, smartest way to turn spoken ideas into professional text. Skip the hype and hardware — this is what modern note taking should feel like!
I wrote this review with Letterly. 'Nuff said. Mic drop.
Simple product that works exactly how it says it does. Two things which I love are:
1. I can add my own custom prompt so that I can tell Letterly how to rewrite my transcript. Adding my custom prompt as a favourite so that it appears right on the screen without looking through the list of rewrite options is terrific.
2. Integration - I love that I can use webhooks to send my output to Notion.
It has been fantastic for creating notes for my tutoring students and for recording webinars and YouTube videos to pull out the key points and action steps.
The multi speaker function is pretty good however struggles to identify more than 2 speakers in a conversation.
One wish - improve the multi speaker functionality so that it can accurately pull action lists for each person in the meeting. Ideally if a name is mentioned for the speaker in the transcript, identify the speaker by name instead of speaker 1 etc.
It is actually very good. It does an amazing job in recording your voice ans doing AI stuff with it. It can even recognize multiple speakers and different languages, then you can translate, organize etc...
I use it a lot on the phone, you can create custom prompts to do virtually anything you'd like
I just activated my license for my iOS device.
When I try to access letterly on the web, it says I need another license.
So I need to buy another license to use letterly on the web?
What if I need to edit and read what I have recorded on my mobile?
The pop up won't close or able to restore even though paid for the web app as well.
Otherwise, good program , hope they fix the issues.
I bought two codes last year but just started using it today. Wow! So nimble, so accurate. I tested two languages. Amazing output and polishing. Love it I can upload to Dropbox immediately.
Maybe too much to ask, but if the web version allows continued adding to the original text in one window, that'll be out of this worldly good. If not possible, I am still very happy. I even dictated into the app "my productivity will skyrocket with this app."
Bought lots of deals here, lots of useful apps, but only twice I am compelled to write a review to thank the team. This is a rare one. Well done and thank you!!
There's a few usability issues specifically around the zapier integration that make this close to unusable for me. I have been using it for a few months, hoping they'd fix these things but it appears the project has stalled, and I'm a bit concerned I may have just gotten bamboozled by one of those "we just launch for appsumo, make a bunch of money, never touch the app again" projects.
You can make zapier exports, but there's no way to categorize or delete previous actions - so if you have multiple, or rename them, you now have a cluttered actions button forever. There's no way to create an automation based on tagging - so the tags are mostly just visual, I guess. Ideally you could tag something "work meeting" or whatever and it would automatically fire an export. The hooks for your zapier integration are very limited, you can just export the title, text, date and tags. Also there's no way to break the export up over a few pages for something like notion, so you are limited by their maximum characters per page. You can't, for example, make a task list and export it as a list.
I'm hoping to come back and change my review once I see any updates to the roadmap or general attention from the developers.
I just started using this for a my note-taking. Love it so far! Thanks for this amazing App.
Been using Letterly now for about three weeks, I know I am not doing everything it can, but for what I need it for, it's perfect.
Letterly has been very very useful to me. Dropping a review on appsumo for the first time because the product is really great.
Also, you guys are coming up with great updates. Really appreciate that as well.
I can take voice notes anytime anywhere and it cleans up the mess and gives a concise copy.
5 tacos!!
Hedy AI ended up being a better alternative than Letterly because with Hedy Ai they made a simple lifetime plan that covers both the web and the app on the phone. Hedy ai is so good at summarizing into detailed notes for me that i use it for all my meetings. With letterly i had to purchase an additional code to access on the web which is included by default in hedy ai. Ultimately i refunded Letterly because Hedy Ai was better at what i wanted with chatting with the meeting notes, organizing the notes, and wording it perfectly.
