Hi,
The support is awesome. I really enjoyed talking to the creator and he showed me how to use codemate to get proper context to code. As someone just starting out, I think this is pretty helpful to be able to ask questions, have codemate give suggestions and access the web as well as Git Hub.
Thanks!
I really like the idea of Codemate, specifically:
• the ability to analyze an entire project
• the ability to assign tasks for refactoring and code generation
• the ability to finally cover the project with tests!
Previously, I used AskCodi, and I can say that it’s a wonderful tool, but it lacks the capability to understand the context of the ENTIRE project in its extension.
Codemate has this feature. This simplifies the development process and allows us to add unit tests directly to the project. As always, we don’t get full approval from clients for time spent on unit tests, as new features are very important for the product to develop and move forward. Therefore, very often the entire focus in development is on new functionality. Plus, new features always require rewriting unit tests. Even using ChatGPT here would be challenging because it needs to understand the whole project.
This product is an absolute solution to my headaches, as it allows us to build a system that aligns with the proper approaches described in classic books.
I thank the developers for bringing this project to the market. I wish the team success in developing the project further, as such solutions change our lives for the better, increase comfort, reduce stress, and make our lives happier and more mindful.
Regarding the limits, I’ll put it this way: I just took the maximum plan. Let’s see how long this limit will last. For me, it comes out to about a million tokens per user. I understand perfectly well that creating an application with unlimited coding is impossible. Even if I exceed the limit, the prices are more than reasonable for this offering. (I mean that additional tokens can be purchased for a reasonable price.)
Another important detail: Codemate works flawlessly; everything is great. I see practical value in it. Sure, you can find ways to get something from various GPTs for free somewhere, but for those who value their time and effort and are focused on results, this is an excellent solution in my opinion. I am incredibly happy to have a service that both I and my team will use.
And yes, a big thank you to the support team. You helped solve all my problems. Thank you so much!
The knowledge base functionality where I can connect multiple codebase and documentations and chat through it is pretty helpful. I do want to say that just the ability to locate files in thousands of line of code and explain what code does saves a lot of time for my team. Bought Tier 5 and my team is now able to collaborate with different codebases much easier. So 5 tacos for the concept and product capability.
Initial impression and basic functionality:
This tool makes a good first impression. Unfortunately, it seems that my account is still in "Free-Mode" because I tested the tool through my Google account before purchasing it.
Performance and reliability:
The tool works quite fast at first, when it does work. However, the speed decreases significantly from around line 50 of my code. Uploading more than 300 lines of code even crashes the tool.
In addition, the tool sometimes even identifies errors in code lines that I have even edited directly in the editor.
Communication with support:
I have already contacted support twice. After the first message, I received a response after a few days that the problem had been fixed.
However, I am still waiting for feedback on my second email, which was sent about a week ago.
Conclusion and possible steps:
If the tool does not work as desired by the weekend, I will probably request a refund.
Unfortunately, the freely available tools Blackbox and Codeium currently offer me better support.
However, I still hope that the problem can be solved and that I can change my rating after switching to the "PRO version" if the functions are then faster and more reliable.
Paid for the highest Tier (5).
Trying out teams. My First team member can not even sign in. There is a 500 Server Error that wont even let him sign in to test it.
I think this is pretty premature. When I logged in, I saw a broken image for my team, that is already a bad start.
Looking a the LinkedIn... your team size is pretty small for such an ambitious project. I will continue testing further this week.... I like to back the projects. I will change my review when as we move to testing it more.
I used the chat for about 10 minutes with no document input and it consumed 10800 credits. The answers are slow. I had a lot of trouble to make the tool work as I had many back and forte to get the tiers 3 access. The pricing is excessive. And what broke the camel back for me is that they state that they record all of our prompts and their output. So this excludes serious commercial use as we cannot share our proprietary code with everybody. I'm sure Appsumo will bring another similar deal with better conditions.
As stated in the title, I've tried emailing several times, but there's been no response regarding not receiving email verification or the login link. After spending over $500 on a Tier 4 package, I expected better.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to use CodeMate at all because of these issues. The lack of response and support has been frustrating, especially considering the investment made. I believe the product has potential based on its advertised features, but without proper access and support, I cannot provide a detailed review of its functionality.
I hope to see improvements in customer service to match the quality that CodeMate promises.
Thank you for your attention.
Can't speak for everyone else, but first impressions matter for me. I was initially excited about the purchase because I love supporting entrepreneurs and startups with potential. CodeMate didn't work within VSCode and kept opening in the web browser. Reached to support yesterday. Got a respond that they didn't understand. Oh.. thought that was straight forward. So, I recorded a video as response, still no response. I can't patronize those who do not value and understand the value of customer support and creating a good customer experience! So, refunded. Certainly left with a bad taste in my mouth. How unfortunate. Nonetheless, I wish them well. I'll stick with Git Copilot, something that I know WORKS and has support!
Pros:
- Integrates knowledge bases and your repo giving context for the AI
- Right inside VS code, not only a chat, but with context
- Cool when you ask it to autocomplete in a small section of the code, but has missed multiple times (still cool though, writes the missing code for you!)
Cons:
- Much worse off deal than last deal, doesn't match the pricing plans on their website
- Don't know what model it is using
- Wrong answers
- Took over 2 days to log in
- Very low amount of tokens compared to other tools
- Tier 3 - for teams, 300K tokens isn't nearly enough, expect to use your own tokens
- Very expensive deal at $579 to get future integrations
- Low amount of knowledge bases (VERY low compared to last deal)
Overall, it's an OK software that will be developed (unlike other tools that came here that look more stagnated in terms of context, etc) but the amount of tokens is very low and the prices are sky high compared to past deals... Can work together with other tools in your toolset but the amount of tokens isn't anywhere close to make it a daily companion, nor the integrations, nor the amount of knowledge bases.
I took a plunge and bought tier 5 for $999 - most expensive purchase I ever made on Appsumo.
Onboarding the tool into VSCode was painful... seems there is some manual activation needed at the backend... because my VSCode kept saying I am on free plan, even though logged in successfully. Frustrated I tried sending message from account dashboard - got error 'could not send email'... so then sent an email via my inbox (thankfully the Codemate email was mentioned)
Then after some time (12+ hrs), tried again in VSCode... and noticed my plan shows as tier 5 now - yippie! However, when I tried the KB feature with URL I get error that I should upgrade to Pro plan!
Really? I took tier 5, which includes Teams & Pro plan.
Anyway... I am tired of experimenting now... I think its better to stick with Codeium - Its free and with limited features & a bit of annoying usability... but at least works for what it says!
This is one tool that I didn't hesitate to upgrade to Tier 2...and I'm thinking about Tier 3. This helped me solve a button placement problem on my site, and all I had to do was ask it in plain English!
I had problems logging in at first and I reached out to customer support - within minutes, they responded. I am blown away with this tool - I'm heading back in. I wish I could give this 10 stars.
For me this has been valuable learning tool! A bit of honing with usability and it will be exceptional.
