I purchased this thinking it would perform at least as well as free tools like Mint (RIP) and many others.
There are so many bugs that I wouldn’t trust this platform to accurately manage my own personal finances, let alone my business. Akounto claimed that one of my business checking accounts has -$34,000 and was updated just five minutes ago. Well, my accounts have never been in the negatives. Although it said the connection was fine, when I manually reconnected it showed the real balance.
I reported certain bugs like the inability to connect major bank accounts that are “supported” over a year ago. This platform lacks basic reporting and features. The mobile app is basically unusable (mobile browser version has far more abilities).
The UI is easy and simple. That’s the best part of this platform, sadly. Seems like the founders used the money from this campaign elsewhere, as I haven’t seen any updates or bug fixes in a year.
I’ll update this review if the data accuracy and usability are fixed to match equivalent free tools. For now, steer clear!
This product has not been updated in a year. Very slow and crappy. Not worth it!!
There does not seem to be a pay button on Invoice or Bills - thus you have to go to transactions and make payment to vendor or customer - but it does not associate to particular bill you want.
- I scheduled an onboarding call using their system and was left hanging nobody showed up.
- Ive sent messages to support and nobody replies.
- Reporting is very limited
- Cannot seem to be able to attatch documents, links or information to the payments, invoices, etc. So I cannot have copies of receipts. Needed for paper trail and verification for auditing.
- The program is simple and for an appsumo lifetime deal - works for simple and quick accounting stuff - however I do not trust it for my real business.
I'm disappointed to say that I can only give Akounto only 1 star. I didn't have high demands, but I did expect the basics. Put simply, it's easy to create an invoice BUT not so straightforward to mark the invoice paid or part paid. There doesn't seem to be a way of creating customer statements at all. Surely any basic accounting package would have the ability to show that the customer paid an invoice and print a statement to show what is still outstanding! I hate giving bad reviews but I'm so disappointed with Akounto. Jim
I'm not a fan of Accounting but Akounto makes the process simple with its straightforward and pleasing UI/UX design and overall responsiveness. Perfect start-ups and small businesses!
I'll be honest, I want to love this simple accounting software. I mean, it looks kind of nice. But after a few months and a few dozenattempts to do one thing... connect my bank account, it never, ever works. #PullingHairOut My bank is in fact listed as a supported bank account on Yodlee, there 3rd party provider for Akunto. I have connected this exact bank account using Yodlee on other platforms, no issues whatsoever. But Akunto keeps blaming them. So.... since I can't get my bank account connected, I can't set up the software and I can't write a glowing review. Maybe you'll have better luck. #DeadInTheWater
The UI and also the CX are cool, and the system are fine for small to medium businesses or startups. If they add connection with zappier and pabbly would be awesome
This is a solid accounting program and invoicing tool. It's exactly what I need as a freelancer. The interface is intuitive and easy to use.
Considering the cost and maturity of the alternatives, this newly baked accounting software packs a punch. Lovely UI and clear segmentation makes it very userfriendly. With the option to add unlimited businesses and the list of international bank connections growing, I think this is definitely worth an all-tier purchase. (Ac)counting on you guys ;)
I was very excited when I found Akounto on Appsumo however after chatting to support I realised that this is a ideal tool for those in the US.
At the moment I won't be able to use it:
1) They do not support bank Wise that is very common for smaller business and freelancers in Europe. It is also not clear when it might end up on the roadmap.
2) Akounto does not support multiple currency accounts. As an example with Wise I have 3 accounts (£, Eur and $). Even with Tier3 I would have the ability to send multi-currency invoice but the accounting of that would be a mess as it Akounto would use the current exchange rate (which is not accurate, as this data differs based on each bank).
3) Not able to edit the main accounts assigned
4) Not being able to activate Payment links on the invoice
I think it would have been fair to mention this on the review that it is US specific. I am gutted as this really looked promising.
I love it. Is really nice UI. The support is so reliable and they reply so quickly. I give them 5 starts to encourage. There are some issues with Barclay UK connect account but I am certain that it will be sort out ASAP.
Keep the good work guys
