As an AppSumo veteran, I've seen it all. In five years as a Sumoling, I have purchased nearly 1,000 deals. I rarely give this much praise to a product, but Afforai deserves it. In my opinion, this will be one of the top 10, maybe even top 5, best LTD purchases I've ever made. Zotero and similar products are completely outclassed by the product. In the event that this tool returns to AppSumo, it should be your first purchase if you do any kind of research or are in academia. Even if this deal returns for a brief period, I can't emphasize enough how much you will rely upon it as a researcher, student, or other member of academia if it does.

I had some doubts at first, but seeing the continuous improvements has made my work and studies increasingly effortless. I truly appreciate the team that made this possible. Thank you!

As a masters student and working professional, this product is amazing. It organizes documents so well and I can have notes/highlight, complete readings right there. Also the chatbox is a fabulous feature. This app really makes research feel fun and empowering because it makes everything so easy! Thank you! So glad I invested in this app in it's early stages! This is sooo much better than zotero!

Refuses to delete private Data. Means, if you have created an account, you cant delete it and he will keep your email address forever... even tough you asked him politely to remove it.

Afforai is an amazing gem. You can employ what is essentially RAG within a foundational LLM in a couple clicks.....and the best part, it cites its sources and has a quick link to it. I cant say enough how amazing this is. I use Voila, Merlin, Claude 3.5 sonnet (natively), and Gemini 1.5 Pro. This is the best value by far and out performs them in alot of real world use cases because of the UI. I thought DocXter would do what this does....it does not and that was a major letdown. Voila and Merlin are fine for lighter use cases but Afforai helps you get work done--reliably.

This is the definition of focusing on making the best tool for a particular use. While a bunch of other AI tools over-extend and try to make an all-in-one, they all end up being completely useless. I have Afforai pinned to my browser because it's reliable.

I've been using Afforai for a couple of weeks now and it works very well. I'm using it to organize and query papers (to get a quick overview of the main points) and add anotations. Recently I have also generated bibtex entries directly using document retrieval mode which works great. I saved a custom prompt to generate them in the style I want:

"As an expert in LaTeX and BibTeX and a thoughtful AI assistant, please create a BibTeX entry for the following URL. Think of each field carefully and separately. As the citation key use "lastname of author", "year", and two descriptive words in the title that make clear what the article is about. Please use the @article class and add a note with the access date following the template "accessed Month, day year" where the month is, for example, "May." Ensure "accessed" is lowercase. Based on the url try your best to retrieve the full name of the organization. Think carefully to get the correct name. Add the fields "journal" and "publisher" filled with the full name organization that published the URL. Do not include the abbreviated name in these fields. Take extra care to find the author of the article. Use the name or names of the contributors even if they are note explicitly credited as authors. Only if there is no author should the organization's abbreviation be used as the author. Before using the organization's abbreviation think again if you can find the author. Look again on the page. If you're gonna do literature research then this is the best tools. It has capability to search in peer reviewed journals. I wish it has the capability to upload document and images directly to the chat interface. However, it is nicely done and this tools will be populer in research field.
